On Site Activities
We are pleased to offer a range of activities for all age
groups. Equipment and where appropriate, fully qualified instructors are included in
the price.
Archery.
Available for ages from 7 years. All year round activity.
Instructors are GNAS approved. Range of equipment available for all,
according to size and ability.
Boules.
2 Boule courts, instructions and
all necessary equipment. Suitable for all ages.
Grass Sledging.
Dry weather activity for age 5 to 16 years. (NO ADULTS)
The speed of the sledges increases with size of the rider. The sledges are
fitted with brakes to control speed and direction. The sledge track uses the
naturally hilly terrain. The grass slope is regularly cut to ensure a speedy but
comfortable ride. 5 sledges are more than adequate for 20 participants for one hour
(we suggest a maximum of 24 participants). With the emphasis on safety only ONE
sledge is allowed to descend at a time.
Low Ropes
Challenge Course.
What is it? A wooden pole and rope course, where participants are never more
than one metre off the ground. Teams negotiate the 100 metre long course attempting
to overcome a series of challenges they encounter as they progress. This activity
can be undertaken at night.
Suitable for ages 10 years and upwards. All year round activity.
100 metre long course designed to test team work, physical and mental agility.
Instructor provided.
Mountain Bikes.
Available for ages from 10 years upwards. All year round
activity. New purpose built off-road track available
with instructor or go solo and plan your own route and tour the local country
lanes/bridle paths
Orienteering
Available for all ages. (Brownies will need to be accompanied
by a leader). Activity takes place on the 25 acres of Guide Association land.
Instruction pack contains:
 |
A guiders guide to Orienteering
|
 |
4 team guides to Orienteering
|
 |
Answer and marking sheets
|
Compass available.
The average team will take about 1 hour unless you ask them to collect a few
items on the way. As they progress around the course they will clip their record
card to prove they have visited each marker. Ideal activity to discover the
splendour of Deer Park from every angle.
Pistol Shooting.
All year round activity for age 10 years
upwards. The enclosed purpose built shooting range has 5 booths, with padded sacking
on the main target area to eliminate re-bounds. The safety features of the .177
pistols combined with well trained instructors ensures the maximum emphasis is on safety
and discipline. A maximum of 10 per hour can be catered for, this provides ample
time for all the necessary procedures and techniques to be practised. Those involved
will then have the opportunity to shoot at target faces with the challenge of recording
the highest score. Depending on the progress of the group the session is usually
finished with a team challenge to shoot as many cans off the shelf as possible. One
booth has wheel chair access.
