Gloucestershire Guide Association Headquarters and Camp Training Centre was officially opened in June 1969 by the Chairman of the County Council Major P.D. Birchall and there is a 99 year lease on the Main Site.

Money had been raised in many ways including an appeal to the many friends of Mildred Humpidge an ardent camper in whose memory the Assembly Hall was dedicated.

With further help from the Langtree Trust and after other money raising-efforts, improvements were made in 1972 to the Deer House and in 1974 the Langtree Trust donated the entire cost of the Warden's bungalow - now named 'Langtree'.

1992 saw fund raising to finance a much needed extension to the Assembly Hall.

In 1995, following more fund-raising, 21 acres of land were purchased to accommodate 'back to basics camping' and further activities.

1999 saw the addition of a shower block to the main site.

To help finance Deer Park each active member of Gloucestershire Guiding pays an annual levy towards costs and maintenance. However, this is not enough to provide those much needed 'extras' and amenities, so in 1970 the LEAGUE of FRIENDS was formed.

Thanks to the support of Friends items such as hard shelters, the shop, archery equipment, grass sledges and many others too numerous to mention have been purchased by Friends, and their contributions have helped to make Deer Park the success it is today.

With your further support we can ensure it will be even more successful tomorrow!

HOW TO BECOME A FRIEND

You may support the Centre by becoming a 'Friend' and giving an annual donation, which can be as little as £1. Covenanted donations are especially welcome, as every £1 donated increases in value by the amount of Tax which we reclaim from the Inland Revenue Department. (Currently 20p for every £1 donated)

Friends will receive an annual newsletter and will be invited to Friends Day which is held on the 2nd Sunday in June each year. If you wish to become a friend or require additional information, click on the Envelope below.
